Why is fragrance growing fastest?
McKinsey points to younger consumers and high-end niche fragrance. Circana reported roughly 15% growth in U.S. mass fragrance dollars and units in 2025, with 5% dollar growth in prestige.
The McKinsey figure is a global forecast and Circana measures U.S. retail; they should not be combined into one market-share claim.
1. Move from one signature to an occasion-based wardrobe
Build distinct reasons to wear a scent—work, rest, going out, or post-workout refresh—rather than listing notes alone.
2. Minis solve trial and portability
Small sizes lower the trial barrier and support scent wardrobes, but require careful leakage, spray, label, and component-cost testing.
3. Give perfume and mist different jobs
High concentrations can emphasize longevity and premium experience; mists can support broader use and frequent reapplication. Design projection, size, and price for each format.
4. Connect discovery sets to full sizes
Names, descriptions, offers, and packaging should make it easy to move from a sample favorite to the matching full-size product.
5. Check transport and labeling early
Alcohol content, fragrance materials, and destination rules can change shipping and labeling requirements. Review formula, pack, label, and logistics as one system.
