How is ingredient interest changing in Korea?
A Korean industry article published on September 7 reported that brands are exploring next-generation ingredients such as TXA and azelaic acid following PDRN's global popularity. The cited U.S. Amazon search analysis showed year-over-year increases of 228% for azelaic-acid-related keywords and 121.7% for TXA.
A September 2 Korean F/W beauty trend report also introduced NAD+ as an emerging ingredient associated with skin longevity. Multiple sources spotlighting new ingredients at the same time can signal more fragmented ingredient discovery, but it does not establish an overall sales ranking or the top search term in Korea.
1. Separate ingredient popularity from the product's role
Adding a frequently searched ingredient to a product name does not explain why a customer should use it. Start with the customer's problem and the intended routine step, then determine what role the ingredient should play in the formula.
- Who is the product for, and what concern brings them to it?
- Which step—toner, serum, or cream—is the best fit?
- Is it the hero ingredient or part of a combined formula?
- Is it intended for daily use or focused care?
2. Confirm the actual raw-material specification
The same marketing ingredient name can refer to different suppliers, compositions, recommended use levels, and formulation conditions. Product development should be based on the material's specification, stability documentation, and available supply—not the trending term alone.
3. Evaluate stability and sensory performance in the formula
A new ingredient can affect color, scent, viscosity, pH, and long-term storage. Rather than setting a desired percentage first, confirm through samples and testing that it remains stable in the target format and preserves the intended feel alongside other materials.
4. Do not turn editorial trend language into efficacy claims
Descriptions of skin changes or professional treatments in trend articles cannot automatically become cosmetic advertising claims. Review permitted language against the product classification, final formula, and available test evidence. Keep the roles of professional procedures and cosmetics clearly distinct.
5. Ask whether the product will remain relevant after the trend
Search interest may shift during the development timeline. To reduce dependence on a short-lived trend, ask whether customers would repurchase for the texture and experience even if they did not recognize the ingredient name, and whether the product connects naturally with the brand's existing range.
Additional considerations for a 1,000-unit MOQ
A raw material's minimum purchase quantity and shelf life can affect the feasible finished-goods volume. Even for projects starting at 1,000 units, material procurement, sample scope, packaging, and testing requirements can change feasibility and cost. Review the full specification before committing to an ingredient.
